  1. Always ask for permission before you photograph people or their houses. Some communities might demand a tip after taking a photograph!
  2. Always change your cash at reputed banks, foreign bureaux or hotels. Never change your money in the black market.
  3. While staying at the hotels, keep your money in the safe deposit boxes. Don't leave valuables in the room.
  4. Keep your distance from wild animals however harmless they may appear.
  5. It is advisable to take out emergency medical insurance prior to entering Kenya .
  6. Drive on the Left hand side.
  7. An airport departure tax of U.S. $20 is levied when leaving the country.
  8. Kenya is three hours ahead of Greenwich Mean Time.
  9. Always try to have loose cash for small purchases.
  10. Plan your itinerary in advance to avoid disappointments e.g lack of transport or hotel room.
  11. Don't ask for directions from strangers idling in the streets. They could be thugs!
  12. The local administrations are discourage handing out money to street kids and mothers.
  13. Immunization against typhoid is highly recommended.
  14. A yellow fever vaccination certificate is required from travelers over one year of age. Find out from your travel agent if your country is classified as an endemic zone. For such visitors the vaccine is mandatory. Travelers arriving from non-endemic zones should note that vaccination is strongly recommended for travel outside the urban areas, even if an outbreak of the disease has not been reported.
